There’s A New Music Venue In Town – You Should Check It Out!

There’s A New Music Venue In Town – You Should Check It Out!

I’m a big fan of live music events, but I generally either find the ticket prices appalling (for “big name” acts), the travel time excessive (it’s a bit of a jaunt to get down to Baltimore or Washington – or for that matter, even Hershey, PA), or the choice of acts and styles limited (you ever try to find a good jazz quartet in Hagerstown?)

I’m happy to report that all of that is changing, thanks to Live at Hub City Vinyl.

Located in the back of the Hub City Vinyl record store (don’t laugh, it’s currently the largest vinyl record store in Maryland) on Baltimore Street in Hagerstown, this new venue opened this past November and is already making a name for itself as a great place to go to check out live music of all genres and styles.

The concert area is custom, featuring a main room with a flexible space that can hold around 100-150 people, depending on the configuration.  A stage graces one side, a full bar covers the far wall, and the lighting and sound systems are top notch.

The space is small, the sound is great, and there is a full bar. It’s the perfect atmosphere for listening to a live act. (image credit – facebook.com)

So far, booked acts (every weekend) have included blues artists, rock acts, cover bands, jazz trios, and bluegrass groups.  Ticket prices are also reasonable, with most shows running in the $15-$20 range (depending on the group).  The promoters are casting a wide net, booking bands from the Washington DC area, as well as Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and even New York City, so it’s a great chance to see some solid, regional, musical entertainment.

I recently got to see a Billy Joel cover band there, and the overall experience was first-rate, from the ticketing process to the beverage service at the bar (there’s even table service).  The atmosphere is intimate, and it definitely has a “club” feel.  The staff are friendly, the bathrooms modern and clean, and I just can’t say enough good things about the overall vibe of the venue.  Thoroughly impressed, I’m already getting my tickets for future shows.

So, if you’re looking for something to do in Hagerstown this weekend (or any future one) and live music is what you’re after, check out Live at Hub City Vinyl to see their upcoming events.  Maybe I’ll even see you there!
