Halloween Candy: What’s your favorite?
Yes, it’s Halloween time again. The kids are out grabbing anything they can get their hands on and parents (like me) are patiently waiting for them to get home so we can raid their candy bag for the good stuff.
My hometown did their “trick-or-treating” last night, so I have a fresh supply of sweets that should last me until – oh, I don’t know – Sunday?
Here are some of my favorites
Snickers bars – My all-time weakness. If I were on Death Row for a crime, I’d request these with my last meal.
Tootsie Rolls – I love the traditional chocolate ones, not those crazy flavored ones (although both the orange and lime-flavored ones are fine).
Butterfinger bars – That crispy core of peanut butter is unmistakable. I like the “minis” of these the best.
Resse’s Peanut Butter anything – Come on Hershey’s. The “pumpkin”? It’s really a chocolate blob. I guess “chocolate covered peanut butter blob” doesn’t market very well. Next month the chocolate blob is called a “Christmas tree”. Whatever you call them, I’ll eat them.
Starburst Fruit Chews – The original flavors (especially orange and lemon). Keep your tropical flavors to yourself, thank you.
I know that come January, we’ll still have a bowl full of uneaten “Jolly Ranchers” and about 45 “Smarties” rolls (along with other assorted candy weirdness) that has been picked over and ignored.
What’s your favorite candy? I hope you find plenty of it this Halloween!

Do you still spread peanut butter on a Hershey chocolate bar?
Yes. Yes, I do.
So funny! Once in awhile, I’ll get a carving for that, think of you and smile! 🍫
